Wild horses couldn't drag someone away

I have pondered this idiom and I have come to the conclusion that it is true. I don’t have to refer to personalities as it would be shaped by character or mannerisms; or even relate to how some times the phrase refers to people’s selfish nature that kicks in once in a while. But who am I kidding yet in actual sense existence in many cases calls for selfishness in order to survive? Who am I to talk when it is human nature that when we put something in our heads or when determination buzzes in, we cannot be moved nor shaken from that particular predicament?

Am not sure and in fact I don’t want to be sure, neither is it my intention to understand why human nature is that way.

They say determination can lead to great places making you reach a certain point you never thought you would touch. It can make you surpass your dreams achieving more than what one expected. Everyone in fact wants to believe that intelligence is what makes startups succeed; it would even be a better story that the chosen environment has intelligent people. But what is its pact if none of the people are determined?

We depend on a lot to survive simply because of the different advantages that we possess. You have the intelligent ones, and then you have the resolute and brave ones, then there is… the talented ones. Now some realms would argue that talent is overrated as compared to determination—partly because it makes a better story, partly because it gives onlookers an excuse for being lazy, and partly because after a while determination starts to look like talent simply because someone along the way learns to be good at what they do.
“No one is wise by birth.  Wisdom results from one’s own efforts.”
-  Krishnamacharya
I could say the two (talent and determination) vary but at the same time also say that talent thrives on determination. What’s the use of having talent when one lucks the determination to take it places. Truth be told some are aware of their talent and are noticed by others but at the end of the day they decide on how to use it, how far to use it and when to use it, bringing me back to the phrase: “wild horses could not drag someone away.” Do they know that they possess the talent? Yes. Are they willing to use it? It’s up to them. At the end of the day we are stuck up to our viewpoints.
Of course it comes without saying that being strong-willed is not enough, however. You also have to be firm on yourself. One who is strong-willed but self-indulgent may not be called determined. You must balance this with chastisement.

Balance could be significant. The more willful you are, the more chaste you have to be. The stronger your will, the less anyone will be able to argue with you except yourself. And someone has to argue with you, because everyone has base impulses, and if you have more will than discipline you'll just give into them and end up on a local maximum like drug addiction.

So however much wild horses may not be able to drag one away, to what extent are we willing to stand still, is it to destruction or to the belief that everything will work itself out?
